The long University season is almost over, just two more games remain to be played next weekend. The small matter of the Premier Final between Birmingham Lions and reigning champions Stirling Clansmen (a full preview will appear later this week), and we now know the two teams that will compete in the National Final.
Swansea Titans will be in the Premier South next season after a convincing 45-9 win over the Surrey Stingers. It’s been a long time coming for the Titans but well worth the wait and they can now look forward to locking horns with the best teams in the South of the country. After overcoming two tough games in the previous rounds, Nottingham Trent had to wait until late on to secure a big scalp in the North Final. They beat Glasgow 13-9 and will rub shoulders with the elite teams in the North.
Swansea and NTU will now square off for the National title in a game which will be hard to predict given both their paths to get here.

The Division Two teams that competed on Sunday had already celebrated a successful campaign last week when they won promotion, with a Final to play though there was no letting up in their discipline just yet.
This showed in the highly competitive games that were played out on a fine Spring day. In the South, the Portsmouth Destroyers ended their season on a high when they overcome the Oxford Lancers in a tight affair. The 19-15 result was in the balance right to the end.
Not so much in the North final where Liverpool John Moores jumped out to an early lead and held on throughout to fend off the Manchester Tyrants 40-28. LJMU have had a great season and this result was deserved for their consistency.
